In designing MedCalc, we put a strong focus on user experience and went out of our way to optimize the way people interact with our calculators. Here's a selection of unique features that make MedCalc a great investment. Wait, isn't that thing free ? Yes, but the time you lose trying to make software work isn't !
Multi-purpose touchpad
 | MedCalc pioneered the concept of switching units from the keyboard, but that's not the only innovative thing you can do with it. Here's a list: - easy typing thanks to big semitranslucent keys
- lateral swipes to go the the next/previous field
- vertical swipe to hide the keypad
- dynamic layout when you deal with imperial units

Formulas inside formulas
| Sometimes you have to input the result of a formula in another formula. With MedCalc, no need to switch formulas and memorize the result. You can call the formula and get back with the result in a flash. | |
Visual hints
 | With MedCalc you begin to get results even as you type the first numbers. If you input a value that is out of range (most likely due to a unit error), the font turns red so you get immediate feedback that something is wrong. Mandatory fields' background is also painted red, so you quickly know what's blocking the result. |
Detailed information about formulas
| MedCalc presents information about formulas and scores in the best way possible. The formula is graphically laid out, so it's easy to read and understand. Units and labels are clearly documented. Clinical use is detailed and there's even a working PubMed link to relevant literature. | |
History of past values
 | It's not unusual to sequentially compute of 2 or 3 formula for the same patient. MedCalc takes this into account and if you already entered a value in the current session (weight or plasma creatinine for instance) it is only a tap away from being entered in any formula. |
Popup menus
Don't you hate it when you tap to select an option in a menu, and you see the screen zap from right to left and back ? MedCalc brings popup menus back and you will experience speedy data entry where it's needed the most. | |
Advanced support for Imperial (or US) Units
 | When it comes to heights and weights, MedCalc supports a variety of SI units, but most importantly, if you are familiar with the Imperial system, you're welcome to input values the way you're used to. |
Search by keywords
| Frustrated that you can't find the formula you're looking for ? It might be there, under a different name. Try searching by keywords. | |
